The
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is the HD remake of the 2007 game
released for the Nintendo GameCube and Wii. The new game was developed by
Nintendo and Tantalus Media. The game was published by Nintendo.
The game was released on March 4, 2016 in North America and Europe.
It was released on March 10, 2016 in Japan.
The game provided higher graphical capabilities then was presented on the
GameCube or the Wii. Graphics included a cleaner and a
high-definition look. The game has a much less blurred look on some
of the various textures.
The game used the world
orientation of the GameCube version in normal mode. Unlike the other
versions, Hero Mode is available from the start of the game.
The game is compatible
with all Legend of Zelda amiibo. The game came packaged with the
Wolf Link amiibo. The Wolf Link amiibo unlocked a new optional dungeon
called the Cave of Shadows. It feature 40 floors that Wolf Link must
clear. Other amiibo features replenishing arrows (Link or Toon Link)
or taking 2x the damage when the Ganondorf amiibo is scanned. Each
amiibo can only be used once a day.
A Limited Edition
Soundtrack CD was also bundled with the game and amiibo. The CD was
only available with GameStop preorders. The CD was more accessible
in European and Japanese retailers.
A new item in the game called the “Ghost Lantern” has been added. This
mysterious item will glow when in the same area as a Poe (a kind of
ghost), making the Poe soul-retrieving quest much easier to complete.
The game received mostly positive reviews.
Some criticized the addition of the Cave of Shadows dungeon. As of May
2016, the game has sold nearly 800,000 copies.
