Kirby and the Rainbow Curse was developed by HAL Laboratory and Nintendo
and published by Nintendo.
The game was released in Japan on January 22, 2015 and
in North America on February 20, 2015.
It was later released in Europe and Australia on May 8,
2016 and May 9, 2016, respectively.
The game is a follow up to the game Kirby: Canvas Curse. This game was
released in 2005 on the Nintendo DS.
The game supported
the Kirby, Meta Knight, and King Dedede amiibo.
These amiibo would grant Kirby additional powers.
The Kirby amiibo activated “Star Dash Mode”, King Dedede
gave Kirby extra hitpoints, while Meta Knight increased Kirby’s attack power.
The game had a
unique modeling clay look to it.
Kirby was stuck in a clay ball.
Players used the Wii U Gamepad to move Kirby around.
An additional three players could play as Waddle Dees
and help Kirby by carrying him or attack enemies.
The game received mixed reviews.
It was praised for its cute visuals but criticized for
the stages being too simple.
It was also criticized for Kirby not having his copy
ability in the game.
As of June 2016, the game has sold 500,000 copies.
