The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D was developed by Nintendo with support from Grezzo.  The game was published by Nintendo.  The game was released during June 2011.

Some modifications were made to the game.   This included the ability to swap out items using the touch screen.  Players could also view brief video clips that served as hints.

The game was originally meant to be a tech demo of the 3DS abilities.  Nintendo decided to develop it into a full game.  It was decided to leave the original bugs in the game to remain true to the original.  Some were removed if it affected the game in a way that wasn't beneficial.

The game received excellent reviews.  Nintendo Power gave it a 9.5 out of 10 in the first review worldwide.  Game Informer gave it a 9.25 out of 10.  The game was the third 3DS title to hit 1 million copies.  As of May 2015, the game has sold over 3.7 million copies. In 2015, Nintendo stopped selling physical copies of the game.  It could only be found in the e-Shop.  Nintendo would once again release the game under the Nintendo Selects banner in March 2016.
