Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon were enhanced remakes of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon released the previous year.  The games were developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company.  The games were released on November 17, 2017.

     The games were still set in the Alola region.  They had an alternate story line and introduced several new characters, new Pokémon, and new gameplay features.

     New Z-Moves were added into the game.  A new Z-Ring was introduced as well as new Z-Crystals.  The new Z-Crystals were incompatible with the original Z-Ring released with Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.

     Pokémon Go introduced clothing inspired from the Alola region for avatars to wear.  It marked the first time Pokémon Go was used to promote a main series Pokémon game.

     The games received favorable reviews.  The game sold 1.2 million copies in the first three days of its release.  As of January 2018, the have sold over 2.75 million copies.
