Super Smash
Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS were published by
Nintendo.
Both games were developed by Sora Ltd.
and Bandai Namco Games.
The Nintendo 3DS version was released
first in September and October 2014.
The Wii U version was released in
November 2014 in North America, Europe, and Australia.
It was released on December 6, 2014 in
Japan.
Nintendo of America’s Club Nintendo
gave members a chance to register both the Wii U and 3DS versions to
receive an exclusive CD of the music of two games.
This would Club Nintendo’s exclusive
giveaway.
The two games have the most fighters
than any of the previous games in the series.
Several new characters were added to
the roster.
These included Mega Man, Pac-Man,
Villager, Rosalina, Bowser Jr., and Palutena.
Both games are compatible with amiibo.
Placing the amiibo on the left corner
of the Wii U Gamepad will scan it into the game.
The New Nintendo 3DS was instantly
compatible with amiibo while older 3DS consoles will need an adapter to
be released later in 2015.
The game was the fastest selling Wii U
game to date in the United States with 490,000 copies sold in the first
three days on the market.
The game has currently sold over 3
million copies worldwide.
The Nintendo 3DS version features 3D
graphics.
This version features Smash Run.
Smash Run gives players five minutes
to increase their stats before a final random battle.
Reviews for the 3DS version were positive. It had been praised of its roster, improvement to game mechanics, and variety of multiplayer options. It has been criticized for the lack of single player mode and latency issues during local and online multiplayer. Report of players damaging their 3DS circle pads have been made. As of June 2015, the game has sold 8,590,000 million copies since its release. |
