Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon was developed by Spike Chunsoft and published by The Pokémon Company for the Nintendo 3DS. The game was released in Japan on September 17, 2015. It was later released in North America on November 20, 2015 and the following February in Europe and Australia.

     Like other games, the game is a dungeon-crawling role-playing game. The gamer takes on the role of 1 of 20 Pokémon who are joined by other Pokémon. The game featured all 720 known Pokémon before the release of Pokémon Moon and Pokémon Sun in 2016.

     The game received mixed reviews. It was praised for its story and overall feel of the game. Reviews complained about repetitive dialogue and long cutscenes that could not be skipped over. As of December 2016, the game has sold 1,360,000 copies.
