Pokémon Art Academy is an art instructional game for the Nintendo 3DS family.  The game was released on October 24, 2014.  It was developed by Headstrong Games and published by Nintendo.

     Players progress through three skill levels, Novice, Apprentice, and Graduate.  The game teaches new techniques and art concepts, with additional tools such as pastel and paintbrush being unlocked along the way.   The Novice course begins with skills such as drawing head-on portraits, angles, and construction shapes, while later stages introduce shading, hatching, opacity, and freehand sketches. Each drawing can be transferred to a Pokémon Trading Card Game card border upon completion, with the option to add a background image.

     The game teaches how to draw Pokémon through 40 lessons.  Creations can be shared on Miiverse.  They can also be saved onto a SD memory card and printed out.  Pokémon can be brought to life using a variety of tools and step-by-step instructions. 

     Some reviews said the lessons progressed too hard too quickly.  The game has sold 500,000 copies.
