Paper Mario: Sticker Star was released for the Nintendo 3DS.  It was first released in North America on November 11, 2012.  It was later released in Japan, Europe, and Australia between December 6-8, 2012, respectively.

This was the fourth installment in the Paper Mario series.  The game introduced the use of stickers that are found throughout the worlds.  These are used as items or power-ups throughout gameplay.    Mario only had so much room to store stickers.

Every year in the Mushroom Kingdom, the Sticker Comet lands and those who wish have a good chance of their wishes being granted by the Royal Stickers.  Bowser crashed the celebration.  The Royal Stickers are scattered throughout the Mushroom Kingdom.  Bowser is corrupted by one of the Royal Stickers and kidnaps Princess Toadstool.  Mario had to collect the six Royal Stickers that were scattered by Bowser.

Mario was accompanied by Kresti.  She gave him the ability to use stickers.  Mario had to travel through the forests, ice, and even volcanoes to recover the stickers.

Turn-based battles return in the game.  Mario's attacks are based on what stickers that were in the inventory.  Attacks included jumping or using a hammer.  Mario's HP and other attacked increased through the collection of stickers.

The game was praised for its graphics and storytelling.  It was criticized for its battle style and backtracking.  The game has sold over 2 million copies.
