Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire were remakes of the Game
Boy Advance titles Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire.
The games were developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo
and The Pokémon Company.
The games were released in Japan, North America, and Australia on
November 21, 2014. It was
released on November 28, 2014 in Europe.
They are the second pair of titles to feature 3D visuals and Mega
Evolutions. Mega Evolutions
are a temporary evolution which gives the certain Pokémon greater stats.
A new side quest was added called the Delta Episode.
It deals with stopping a meteor from crashing into the planet.
The games received positive reviews.
The game was praised for its 3D visuals and online functionality. The game sold over 3 million copies in its first three days on the market. It had the biggest launch in the United Kingdom in series history. As of January 2017, the game has sold nearly 13.7 million copies.
