Metroid Prime: Federation Forces was
released for the Nintendo 3DS on August 25, 2016 in North America.
The game was developed by Next Level Games and published by Nintendo.
The game played similar to that of Metroid
Prime Hunters. It focused on the shooting mechanics within the
Metroid Prime series and not the exploration. It moved away from
touch-based controls that its predecessor had.
The game was not received well upon its announcement at E3 2015.
Many gamers wanted another Metroid game in the main series and not this
spin-off. The game sold poorly upon its release. It even
failed to enter the charts in the Top 20 in Japan the week of its
release.
Metroid Prime Blast Ball was a new sport set in the Metroid Prime
universe. The game plays similar to soccer. Six players will
try to shoot the ball into the opponent's goal to score. The first
team to score three goals will win the game. Players will use the
Nintendo 3DS motion sensing feature to aim.
The game used power-ups to aid gameplay. Power-ups included the
ability create a barrier, move faster, and eject opposing players out of
their Mech suit.
The game could be played on other 3DS
consoles by using Download Play.
