Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (Luigi's Mansion 2 in Europe and Japan) is the sequel to the 2001 GameCube game.  It was developed by Next Level Games and published by Nintendo.  The original title was Luigi's Mansion 2 worldwide but only the North American version was named Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.

It was released in North America on March 24, 2013.  Japan's release date was March 20, 2013 while Europe's was March 18, 2013.

Professor E. Gadd once again recruits Luigi to go ghost hunting through 5 different mansions using the Poltergust 5000.  The game will feature more puzzles then the first game.  King Boo will once again be Luigi's arch-nemesis.

The game also features an online multi-player function.  The game makes use of the Nintendo Network in an online multiplayer mode, in which players take the role of Luigi in different palettes, in order to explore the "ScareScraper" mansion.  This is known as "Thrill Tower" in the European Version.  There are four multiplayer modes: Hunter, Rush, Polterpup and Surprise. Multiplayer mode for this game can be accessed by LAN, WiFi, and Download Play (in which only the host is required to own a copy of the game). '

The game received positive reviews.  Critics complained about the lack of checkpoints in the game and having to restart the mission after dying.  As of January 2017, the game has sold over 5,200,000 copies.
