Hyrule Warriors Legends is a remake version of Hyrule Warriors for the Wii U.  The game was developed by Omega Force and Team Ninja.  It was produced by Nintendo.  The game was released on January 21, 2016 in Japan.  It was later released on March 24, 2016 in Europe and the next day in North America.

While the game is playable on the original Nintendo 3DS, the game only runs in 2D.  The game functions better on the New Nintendo 3DS and doesn't suffer the reduced graphics.

The game added additional content to the Wii U version including several new characters.  These characters included Linkle, Skull Kid, Tetra, King Daphnes, and Toon Link.

A new game mode was added called My Fairy.  This mode allows the Fairies to grow stronger and learn new skills.  They will help in battle.  Their costumes can be customized in Fairy Wear.

The game will have four new DLC packs.  Some of the packs will also have updates for the Wii U version.  The first was exclusive for the 3DS game and was released on May 19, 2016.  The 3 other packs will be released  in Summer 2016, Autumn 2016, and Winter 2016.

Updates to the 3DS version includes the ability to change characters in mid-battle.  Other changes include the ability to battle a boss and the magic meter increases.  Nintendo included amiibo support in the game.

The game received mixed reviews.  Many reviewers thought this should have been a New Nintendo 3DS exclusive title due to the its limited graphics on the original 3DS.  As of January 2018, the game has sold 520,000 copies.
