Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia was developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo.  The game was released in North America and Europe on May 19, 2017.

     The game is a remake of the 1992 Japan-only Famicom release of Fire Emblem: Gaiden.  The game retained the mechanics of Gaiden, which were different than other games in the series.

     Two new amiibo were released alongside the game.  They were Alm and Celica.  These two amiibo had more functionality than other amiibo.  Other amiibo in the Fire Emblem series and all other amiibo also work in the game.

     The game received positive reviews.  It was praised for its voice acting and the depth of its story.  As of January 2018, the game has sold 590,000 copies.
