Detective Pikachu was released for the Nintendo 3DS family. The game was developed by Creatures Inc. and published by The Pokémon Company. The game was released in Japan on February 3, 2016 and was released around the rest of the world on March 23, 2018.

     The game follows a Pikachu who isn't as powerful and nimble as other Pikachu. He is rather intelligent and claims to be a great detective. He meets Tim Goodman and together they solve mysteries around the city. They will meet various Pokémon in their journeys.

      The game was released alongside a large Detective Pikachu amiibo.  This amiibo replayed cutscenes up to the current chapter in the game.

      The game received mixed reviews.  As of March 2019, the game has sold 500,000 copies.

     A movie is being developed and began to film in January 2018. The film is slated for a May 10, 2019 release.
