Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer was released on September 25, 2015 in North America.  It was released the following week in Europe and on July 30, 2015 in Japan.  The game was designed and published by Nintendo.

      The game allows designers to design several house for residents of the village.  Designers also get a chance to design schools, hospitals, and other public facilities.  Each resident has their own criteria of what they would like to see in their home.

     The bundle edition comes with NFC reader for the 3DS and 2DS to read amiibo.  amiibo cards will allow up to four characters in one room.  There will be four different series of cards.  The second set of cards will be released in Europe in November 2015.

     The game has received mixed reviews.  One reviewer thought that the game would have been better as DLC for Animal Crossing: New Leaf.  As of January 2018, the game has sold over 3 million copies.
